The mid-century garden

Colour and form

An exacting space for a designer family

A garden on two levels with bold geometry at its heart. The burnt orange cantilevered planter cuts through the space creating a dynamic counterpoint to the surrounding planting which is set against the backdrop of the woodland walk nature trail.

The structured paving draws you in to the dining space on the lower level. Floating steps lead you to the upper lounge level with drought-tolerant planting emerging from the gravel. A multi-stemmed Tetradium daniellii hupehense forms a pivot point on the upper level, otherwise known as the ‘Bee Bee’ tree in Korea, which is buzzing with life all summer.

Simple clean lines combining form and function, a blending of natural materials with bold colours.

“Collaborating with Georgia on the design of our small London garden was without doubt one of the most enjoyable experiences we've had while developing our home.

Georgia was skilled, creative, sensitive, inspiring, calm and reassuring. She was a brilliant listener and as a consequence, we felt she understood us well. She designed a garden that feels completely right for us, and beyond what we could have imagined.

Our new garden is a stunning addition to our home. My only disappointment is that the project had to end!

The prize, of course, is a beautiful new space to enjoy. I've noticed that we all spend more time out there, and that includes two teenagers, so it must be good.

If you're lucky enough to be at the start of your project, please do get in touch with Georgia”
